Breast reconstruction by free flap (DIEP, Muscle sparing TRAM, SIEA, TUG, stacked / double flaps)

Breast cancer is devastating for ladies who suffer it. Autologous breast reconstruction (using the lady’s own tissue/skin and fat) is the gold standard for suitable candidates. Free flap means moving tissue (skin and fat) from one area and transplantig (autoplanting) it to the chest via microscopic surgery & reshaping it to give the shape of a breast. The most common procedure is DIEP flap (deep inferior epigastric artery perforator flap). The abdominal donor site is closed in a tummy tuck fashion.

Mr Awad has significant expertise, skills and passion in this field. He leads the breast reconstruction services in Sheffield. He reformed these services and introduced the latest techniques and procedures to make it available to larger sector of ladies who suffer breast cancer and mastectomy or post implant complications.
