Dr. Guirgis Awad (FRCS Plast, FEBOPRAS, MSc, MRCS, MBBCh) is a consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, with over 20 years of experience in cosmetic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgery.

He is the lead clinician for breast reconstruction and corrective breast surgeries at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. In private practice, he sees patients at Kinvara Hospital in Rotherham and through Enhance Medical Group.

Dr. Awad qualified with honours from Cairo University in 2003, completed his Master’s in Plastic Surgery in 2010, and undertook three senior fellowships in the UK covering reconstructive surgery, breast microsurgery, and cosmetic surgery. He became a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS) in 2015 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast) in 2017, joining the NHS as a full-time consultant in 2018.

He is a full member of BAPRAS and EURAPS, holds GMC specialist registration, and serves as the plastic surgery audit lead at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

His research is published and indexed on Google Scholar and ResearchGate, and he has presented his work at national and international conferences.

Qualifications

Mr Awad leads breast reconstruction and breast corrective surgeries in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He also sees private patients at Kinvara Hospital, in Rotherham as well as through Enhance medical group.

Mr. Awad acquired his medical degree (MBBCh) at Cairo University, Egypt, in 2003 with Honours
He completed 5 years of plastic surgery training in Cairo, accomplishing Master’s in Plastic Surgery in 2010 at the same university
He later moved to the UK and completed 6 years of training in plastic surgery at a senior level in prestigious plastic surgery units and 3 senior fellowships in; reconstructive surgery, Breast microsurgery and cosmetic surgery
He became a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 2015 (FEBOPRAS)
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Plastic Surgery since 2017 (FRCS-Plast)
He has been a full-time consultant plastic surgeon in the NHS since 2018, specialising mainly in microvascular breast reconstruction and breast corrective surgeries.

Mr. Awad has extensive experience with outstanding results in breast reduction, breast augmentation, mastopexy, tuberous breast deformity, breast asymmetry and gynecomastia correction. He also has expertise in a wide range of plastic surgery procedures, including body contouring surgery, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction, arm lifts, thigh lifts, otoplasty and facial surgeries.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr. Awad is active in clinical research and has several publications. In addition, he has presented his work both nationally and internationally.

Mr Awad is always focused on improving patients’ experience and leading patients’ service improvement projects and audits. He is the audit lead for plastic surgery at Sheffield Teaching hospitals NHS trust.
